Bourbon Cream Coffee Drink

A bourbon cream coffee drink is one of the easiest and most comforting drinks with bourbon cream you can make at home. It blends freshly brewed hot coffee with smooth bourbon cream liqueur, creating a rich, velvety texture and balanced sweetness. The warmth of the coffee enhances the caramel and vanilla notes in the bourbon cream, while the cream softens the coffee’s natural bitterness. Unlike complicated cocktails, this drink requires minimal ingredients and equipment. It’s ideal for fall evenings, winter gatherings, after-dinner service, or even holiday mornings. If you’ve ever wondered what to mix bourbon cream with, hot coffee is one of the best and most reliable answers. This recipe focuses on balance — not too sweet, not too strong — just smooth, warm, and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 8 oz freshly brewed hot coffee
  • 2 oz bourbon cream liqueur
  • 1 oz bourbon whiskey optional, for stronger flavor
  • Optional garnish: whipped cream or light cocoa powder
  • Coffee Tip:
  • Use medium or dark roast coffee. Light roast can taste too acidic with cream liqueur.

Equipment

  • Heatproof mug or glass mug
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Measuring jigger
  • Coffee maker or French press
  • No shaker is required for this drink.

Method

  1. Brew 1 cup of fresh hot coffee. Ideal temperature is around 160–170°F (not boiling).
  2. Pour the coffee into a heatproof mug.
  3. Add 2 oz bourbon cream liqueur.
  4. Stir gently until fully blended. The color should become a smooth light brown.
  5. Add 1 oz bourbon if you prefer a stronger whiskey flavor. Stir again.
  6. Top with whipped cream if desired.
  7. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

Do not use boiling coffee. Very high heat can affect cream texture.
Stir immediately after adding bourbon cream.
Use fresh coffee — stale coffee will taste flat.
If too sweet, add a splash of black coffee.
If too strong, add 1 tablespoon warm milk to soften it.
