Chocolate Bundt Cake Recipe

Unlike ordinary chocolate cakes, a bundt cake has a dense yet tender texture that stays moist for days. The combination of cocoa powder, coffee, and buttermilk creates an intensely chocolatey flavor with a velvety finish that melts in your mouth. Topped with a glossy chocolate glaze or dusted with powdered sugar, it's both beautiful and delicious. One of the best things about this easy chocolate bundt cake recipe is its versatility. You can customize it with chocolate chips, nuts, or flavored glazes. It also adapts well to gluten-free and dairy-free variations for those with dietary preferences

Equipment

  • 10 to 12-cup bundt pan
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Rubber spatula
  • Cooling rack
  • Saucepan or microwave-safe bowl for glaze
  • Toothpick or cake tester
  • Alternative Equipment
  • Tube pan can replace a bundt pan
  • Hand whisk can replace an electric mixer
  • Silicone spatula can substitute a wooden spoon

Method

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Pan
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Generously grease a bundt pan with butter or baking spray. Lightly dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking and maintain the cake's dark appearance.
  4. Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together:
  6. Flour
  7. Cocoa powder
  8. Sugar
  9. Baking powder
  10. Baking soda
  11. Salt
  12. Mix until evenly combined.
  13. Step 3: Combine the Wet Ingredients
  14. In another bowl, whisk together:
  15. Eggs
  16. Buttermilk
  17. Vegetable oil
  18. Melted butter
  19. Vanilla extract
  20. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
  21. Step 4: Create the Batter
  22. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
  23. Mix gently until no dry flour remains.
  24. Slowly pour in the hot coffee while stirring. The batter will become thin, which is normal and helps create an extra moist chocolate bundt cake.
  25. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  26. Step 5: Fill the Pan
  27. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared bundt pan.
  28. Tap the pan gently on the counter a few times to remove trapped air bubbles.
  29. Step 6: Bake
  30. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  31. Avoid overbaking to maintain a soft and tender texture.
  32. Step 7: Cool Properly
  33. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
  34. Carefully invert onto a cooling rack and let it cool completely.
  35. Step 8: Make the Chocolate Glaze
  36. Heat the heavy cream until warm but not boiling.
  37. Pour over the chocolate chips and butter.
  38. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until silky smooth.
  39. Step 9: Glaze and Serve
  40. Drizzle the chocolate glaze generously over the cooled bundt cake.
  41. Allow the glaze to set for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  42. Serve and enjoy every rich chocolatey bite.
